Bakewell lists this under "The Golden Sayings of Democritus." Freeman notes this as one of the <em>Gnômae,</em> from a collection called "Maxims of Democratês," but because Stobaeus quotes many of these as "Maxims of Democritus," they are generally attributed to the latter.<br><br>
