If it is to be accepted, we will have an end to genuine discussion of foreign policies, for it will inevitably be invoked to stop debate and criticism whenever that debate gets acrimonious or the criticism cuts too close to the bone. And to the fevered mind of the FBI, the CIA, and some Senators, criticism always gives aid and comfort to the enemy or cuts too close to<br />

The <em>New York Times</em> (28 May 1918) <a href="http://query.nytimes.com/mem/archive-free/pdf?res=9907EFDE1238EE32A2575BC2A9639C946996D6CF">speculatively corrected</a> this to "Ma'am, I get thar first with the most men."
